 Bishop Robert E. Joyce (REJoyce as he is known!) was born Christmas Day in Hulbert, Arkansas and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He later moved to Michigan to attend John Wesley Christian College and continued on to attend Thomas Cooley Law School and William Tyndale College.
Bishop and his late wife LaVern, founded Life Worship and Training Center in 1982 in Pontiac, Michigan; a growing apostolic / prophetic church commissioned to demonstrate and release the gifts of the Spirit, transforming lives and churches, cities and regions. With this vision in mind, Bishop has established a training center to teach and equip the people of God for five-fold ministry. It is currently the center for prophetic / apostolic training in the northwest suburbs of Detroit. He also leads the National Apostolic Prophetic School held annually in December.
The new building completed in 2001 can convert its sanctuary into a regulation size basketball court where community outreaches take place all week for youth and adults. It is located only a few miles from the Palace where the Detroit Pistons and Shock hold their games. Professional athletes call Life Worship & Training Center their home.
The church is known for its 1989 anti-drug commitment involving aggressive warfare and a citywide march. The results of the church’s efforts were so dramatic that Good Morning America did a story spotlighting the church and the more than twenty-seven known crack houses, which were shut down.
Bishop Joyce travels the nations extensively under the banner of REJoyce Ministries. He is in great demand for his outstanding teaching and prophetic activations. His prophetic ministry and humorous style of preaching have allowed him to cross denominational lines as keynote speaker and seminar teacher, bridging races, ages, and religions. He is in frequent demand for men’s ministries because of his great anointing to stir the hearts of men to fulfill destiny and purpose and his marriage seminars are hilarious and insightful. He has ministered to date on four continents and many islands.
Bishop has been the NBA Chaplain for the Detroit Pistons since 1990 and the Detroit Shock since its inception. He also serves as Chaplain for the Department of Law Enforcement in the City of Pontiac. Life Worship & Training Center is the Michigan regional school for Chaplains For Life Training, which provides national certification for chaplains in the marketplace.
Bishop Joyce is ordained with Christian International since 1991 as a CI-NPM Minister and is currently serving as a member of the Board of Governors under Bishop Bill Hamon, as well as serving as a member of his Apostolic Board. He is a frequent host on Totally Christian Television’s TCT Alive! and Ask The Pastor.
Bishop is the father of four sons and one daughter.
